Workers across West Texas will have the opportunity to connect with employers hiring for emerging careers in digital infrastructure during the Data Center Virtual Career Fair: Texas Trades and Tech Roles on September 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT.
Hosted by Education Design Lab on behalf of the Texas Flywheel Initiative, the free virtual event will connect job seekers from Midland-Odessa, Lubbock, Abilene, San Angelo, Big Spring, and surrounding communities with employers seeking talent for critical infrastructure roles.
Participating employers include Blue Sage Services, Core Scientific, DataBank, JLL, and TEKsystems, along with other companies hiring for positions in mechanical systems, electrical work, facilities operations, maintenance, and IT.
The Texas Flywheel Initiative is focused on helping Texans identify pathways into careers supporting data centers and digital infrastructure by connecting existing workforce skills with emerging industry needs. Workers with experience in areas like construction, electrical systems, HVAC, manufacturing, energy, and IT support may already have skills that translate into these growing career opportunities.
The event is designed for individuals with experience in:
Electrical work and power systems
HVAC and refrigeration
Construction and skilled trades
Manufacturing and industrial maintenance
Facilities operations
IT support, networking, and hardware troubleshooting
Energy and industrial operations
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with recruiters and hiring managers, explore career pathways, participate in virtual conversations with employers, and submit resumes for consideration.
The Data Center Virtual Career Fair is part of a broader effort to connect Texas workers with opportunities created by the growth of digital infrastructure while helping employers build the skilled workforce needed to support the industry.
